The town of Orleans consists of the following villages - Orleans, East Orleans and South Orleans.
Orleans is home to the 1890 French Cable Museum, containing artifacts pertaining to transatlantic communications between France and America.
A transatlantic cable was laid between Orleans and France in 1898.
The origin of the towns name, Orleans, is unknown, but it is the only town with a French name on the Cape. All others are Indian or English.

Climb aboard the Terry II, a 42-foot boat at Rock Harbor. . We have been fishing Cape Cod Bay since 1970. Striped Bass and Blue Fish are our specialty. We teach you fishing techniques and even filet the fish for you. Trips are 4 or 8 hour with a maximum of 6 passengers. The Terry II is fully licensed with Captain Don Walwer.
